Who icons -new series filming pics and more

Is Matt Smith's costume a spoiler? I'm gonna guess not since they've been in the news and all, but it's kinda hard to tell...

I've been away for a few days and now DW fandom has exploded.

Look! Matt Smith's costume! I love it. (There's spoilers below the picture there.) And Karen Gillan's character name is Amy Pond, and she looks really pretty, and I've really got my hopes up for this series so I hope it's awesome and not as hard on the heart as Torchwood was.

Doctor Who Icons

Enjoy!

(you know the rules, probably- don't hotlink and don't say they're yours, not that I reckon anyone reading this is likely to do that.)

Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead

That was okay, but I have no desire at all to watch it again. The only really exciting bit was the Dramatic Foreshadow at the end. Maybe Doctor Who's the sort of show that works better with arcs, or something.

Oh, and a desert planet with three suns? Someone's been watching Star Wars...

30 Women

Okay, this is a challenge [info]antistar_e is doing, and it's a wonderful idea and I want to do it too. :p

The challenge is to write 30 ficlets for 30 women. (I believe orginally it said fabulous women...but some of these people are downright nasty characters.)

The problem with Rose

(This is best described as a stream of conciousness.)

Rose isn't a good role model, or something. I don't know about that. I hate her selfishness and the way she treated Mickey and Jackie,
but...well, I always thought that if I knew Rose in real life, if she was a classmate or something instead of a fictional time
traveller, I'd rather like her. Heck, I think I probably do know some Roses.

She's not a feminist character. She gives up her whole life for a man. One of the Roses I know tells me she's a feminist. Is Rose Tyler
a feminist? Maybe she is. Who knows.

Rose Tyler as a person isn't all bad. She's quite good, actually. She's incredibly selfish, true, but she's also sweet and funny and very
brave and determined and loyal. Rose Tyler as a character...well, that's the thing, isn't it?

If my hypothetical daughter told me she admired Rose Tyler, I don't think I'd mind. So long as she didn't actually run off with
a much older man and make me worry and almost break my heart. But that's Russell's fault, not Rose's. Right? Right...?

Things I learned from 'The Writer's Tale'

I got Russell T Davies' The Writer's Tale for Christmas. It's a darn good read. I thought I'd share some tidbits, in (mostly) bullet-point form.

That's all I've got. The book's worth buying though, it's really quite interesting.

Doctor Who: Midnight

That was really good, I thought. Not quite as good as 'Blink', but well done to the production team and RTD for trying something different.

It was nice to see the dark side of human nature for once. There's certainly no way everyone could be counted on to be heroic in a situation like that...

Poor Doctor. He's been through a lot this season. I won't comment on what is seen to apparently happen to him in the Next Time trailer...

Things I want to see in the Doctor Who finale

If you should know about any of these things...don't tell me. :p

Spoilers, probably )

I have my fingers crossed.

Doctor Who: Silence In The Library

Not quite the scariest episode ever (that's still Blink) but still really really really scary.
